The 2018 College National Champion Georgia Bulldogs
Yeah, that’s right you read the title of this correct. This is what will happen in theory if EVERYTHING that can go wrong this weekend does.
This could be the most deciding week for college football. Every game means something, more so then any other week. More then any other year.
A lot of people are going to talk about all the stuff that could go right and what they think is going to happen with educated information, stat lines, over-under lines, blah blah blah. Today I am going to play the ultimate villain, devils advocate, downer. What if every favorite were to lose this week? That’s right EVERY SINGLE ONE.
All top 4 teams losing. That’s Right. #11 TCU beating #3 Oklahoma. #8 Ohio State beating #4 Wisconsin. #5 Georgia beating #2 Auburn. #7 Miami beating #1 Clemson. Along with that every other major gaming going the lower ranked/underdogs way. #14 UCF losing to #20 Memphis. #12 Stanford beating #10 USC. Unranked Boise State beating #25 Fresno State. Although some of these will not have as big of an impact on the overall outcome of the week still assume every underdog wins their conference championship game.
First let’s stop at the Big 12. It is #3 vs #11. This game is a 7 point spread in the favor of Oklahoma. With that being said this game could actually go that way. Oklahoma losing I don’t think would hurt Mayfield’s chances at the Heisman. This loss will take out any chance of the Big 12 making it to the playoffs.
TCU win 28-21
In Atlanta it may be the closest conference championship game there is. The SEC Championship game has a spread of 2.5 points. That’s not even a field goal. This is another one that could swing either way. However, if Auburn were to lose It wouldn’t hurt the chances of the SEC getting a team in. With Auburn being number 2 and Georgia being number 5, the win would put Georgia into the top four regardless of what else happens around the
country.
Georgia win in OT 45-42
Number 1 going down in back to back weeks this late in the season I don’t think has ever happened. Clemson is Favored in the spread by 9.5 points. Along with that there is only a 25% chance Miami wins the game. Crazier things have happened though. With every top four team losing there is a chance that the ACC will still have someone in the top 4 and making a push for a national title.
Miami wins big 36-21
Believe it or not Wisconsin is not favored to win the game even though they are ranked higher. In the spread Ohio State if a 6.5 favorite. When looking at the percent chance of winning Wisconsin only has a 35% chance of winning. This is probably the most likely “upset’ to happen this weekend.
Ohio State wins 35-28
So every team loses. Vegas loses. The country is in mass chaos because they don’t know who is going to be in the playoffs. When the final Playoff Poll comes out the world is a little confused but you know we just have to deal with it.
The new top 4 will be….. Georgia jumps to number 1. Miami comes in at number 2. Somehow Alabama gets back into the playoffs moving up to number 3. The last spot will be taken by Ohio State. With the new playoff bracket set. Georgia will play Ohio State. Georgia wins in a close one by a field goal. The second game between Alabama and Miami. People think the U is back but Alabama runs right over them turn over chain and all.
Yep that’s right it is going to be a SEC National Championship game for the second time. Further showing that the SEC is the best conference in college football. This will be for not only the National Championship but for the REAL SEC Championship. If I were to guess who would be favorite in this match-up (which duh I am) I would say Alabama would be favorite by not much but I say the spread would be a 5-point spread. However, I think Georgia comes out and shuts down the Nick Saban Alabama offence, runs over their defense and makes its way to their 3rd national title and the first in over 30 years.
Georgia wins National Title 21-10
