Embrace Debate- '08 Lions vs '17 Browns
Losing every game your team plays that year does not happen often. It has never happened in the MLB, NBA, or the NHL. It has happened twice in the modern 16 game schedules (which started in 1978) in the NFL though. Both happening in the past 10 years. One being the 2008 Detroit Lions the other being the 2017 Cleveland Browns. One would think you could pull off at least one win but neither could do it.
So lets just embrace the debate. If these two teams were to play who would win?
2008 Lions-
16.7 pts/gm, 268.3 yds/gm, only averaging 4.7 yards a play, only 29 turn overs though. But they allowed 32.3 pts/gm. You got out scored by almost double what you scored every game. that is terrible. They lost by 2 one time and that is the closest it every got. No over time games. That is just terrible.
3 Different Qbs, one being Jon Kitna who was not that bad of a Qb. A sub 1000 yd rusher, and only one WR with more then one touchdown.
I wonder how teams planned for defense? Just guard that guy. The ball will be going to that guy i promise.
2017 Browns-
14.6 pts/gm, 308.9 yds/gm, only averaging 4.9 yards a play, having 41 turn overs, and they let up 25.6 pts/gm. How do you expect to win with that. I mean come on. They had a couple close games only losing by 3 or 4 but other then those few they lost every game by more then 10 pts. They took two teams to over time and still couldn't pull of a win.
They did have a rookie QB. Their best offensive linemen did go down half way through the year with a torn tricep. The only good receiver they had didn't play until the last 3-4 games.
It really is not a surprise that they didn't when a game.
Both of these teams were terrible. If they were to play these seasons over again i dont think the results would be any different.
So when you look at who would win if these two teams were to play a game. First off it would be the worse game of football ever played. The lowest rated game ever played. Both teams would have better offensive numbers they had, but it still wont be pretty.
21 Lions-23 Browns
The Browns win. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't graceful. Keizer only threw 2 interceptions. But they won.
