The Jaw Bats Series of the Week Recap (2/23-2/25)
Another week another series that was almost called because of weather. But luckily they pushed the games back a day and got them all in. These games are what you would expect when two Top 10 Teams get together. These games had everything from Pitchers shutting people out to guys putting the ball in play when they needed too.
Game 1- Crowder Wins 6-5
Iowa Western was up 5-1 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. Slowly Crowder clawed back in and got the win. Scoring 1 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th, then walking it off with a homer by Brinson Williams in the 7th.
Game 2- Crowder Wins 5-1
This game was dominated from the start by pitcher Aaron Ashby, going 5 2/3 innings, with only 1 ER and 13 K’s. Any time your starting pitcher can strike out 13 of the 26 batter he faces odds are you are going to have a good chance to get the win.
Game 3- Iowa Western Win 4-3
This game was another example of a great pitching performance. Iowa Westerns Indigo Diaz went 6 1/3 innings, striking out 7 while only giving up 2 ER. Iowa Western also came from behind in the 7th scoring 4 to put them up 4-1 going into the bottom. Crowder scored 2 off of a pinch hit 2-run homer by Drew Reilly, but it was not enough to get them to extras.
Game 4- Iowa Western Win 14-7
Unlike the first 3 games, this game was all about the offense. Both teams bats came alive. Trey Smith led the way for Iowa Western going 2-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI’s and a Double. Others had 2 Doubles and 2 RBI’s from Gibson Krzeminski, a Triple from Ross Indlecoffer.
This entire series was separated by 3 runs with Iowa Western outscoring Crowder 24-21. If that does not show how close these games were then what else will.
Crowder will play North Iowa Area this weekend at Home. Iowa Western will play Iowa Lakes this weekend at Home.
