The #jucoroute Team of the Week: Eastern Oklahoma State

After a crazy month of travel, childbirth, and not as much time as I usually have the #jucoroute Team of the Week is Back!

This week the team is from a Little Town in South East Oklahoma called Wilburton. Eastern Oklahoma State has made it to the National Top 25 for 2 weeks this seasons (Week 6 and 7) making it as high as #20. Currently, they sit just outside the Top 25 at #26 with a record of 30-11.

This past week they played 5 games going 4-1. Out scoring their opponents 42-28 in the process. To go with that 2 of those wins were against a Top 10 team in the Country.

To Start the week of the Mountaineers played Bacone College winning both by run rule.(19-8 and 10-0)

When it came to the weekend they had a 3-game series with the then #9 Connors State.

Game 1: 10-1 L-

In the 3rd Connors took off and never looked back. Putting up crooked numbers in the 3rd, 4th, and 7th inning. The only Eastern Oklahoma run came by the way of a solo shot from Cade Tucker in the 3rd inning.

Game 2: 9-8 W-

To start off the Saturday double-header they had a come from behind win against the Cowboys. Connors jumped out to a 7-1 lead going into the bottom of the 5th. That's when the runs started piling up for the Mountaineers, scoring 5 in the 5th and 1 every inning the rest of the game. Ending it with a walk-off by Reed Shepherd.

Game 3: 3-2 W-

Who doesn’t love walk-off wins? and who doesn’t love back to back walk-off wins? Well, that is exactly what happened in game two of the doubleheader. Being tied at 2 after 4 innings the Mountaineers got the walk-off off the bat of David Vilches. That game also saw Jacob Womack going for the Complete Game win, giving up 2 unearned runs and striking out 5.
