The #jucoroute Team of the Week: #5 Arizona Western
#5 Arizona Western- 43-13 (4-0) 11 Game Win Streak
Coming down the stretch is good for any team. But when you have won your last 11 games and haven’t lost a game in the month of April thats not just hot that is on fire. In those 11 games they have beaten Central Arizona (#3 at the time) twice and they beat South Mountain this past week who was #4 Twice. They are currently ranked #5.
This past week they outscored their Opponents 31-8 in the 4 games they played.
Game 1- AW 11- Yavapai 0
Stepping on the gas and never looking back. Scoring a run in the first 2 innings then putting on 9 in the bottom of the 4th to make it 11-0. this game ended in a run rule in the 5th. Iving Martin Pitched the complete game facing 16 batters (one more then the number of outs in the game) striking out 9 and only giving up 2 hits.
Game 2- AW 9- Yavapai 3
Picking up where they left of from game 1 the scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st. Yavapai got 2 of their own in the top of the 3rd but Arizona Western answered back. with 1 in the bottom of the 3rd and then 6 in the bottom of the 5th. At the plate Sean Roby had a day going 2-5 with 2 Runs, and RBI with a Double and a Hr.
Game 3- AW 8- South Mountain 5
Jumping out to an early lead in the 3rd and adding some more insurance runs in the 5th to make it 4-0. In the bottom of the 5th South Mountain scored 3 to bring the game within a run. However Arizona Western added 2 runs for the next 2 inning to keep the lead.
Game 4- AW 3- South Mountain 0
Any time you can Shutout one of the top teams in the country you’re doing something right. Between Ramon Miranda and Fabian Muniz they gave up 7 hits striking out 6 over those 9 innings.

This weekend Arizona Western will Play Central Arizona in a Best of 3 Series in the Semi-finals of their conference Tournament. Winner will play the winner of South Mountain vis Cochise.
