The JuCo Baseball Blog All-Texas Team


When you think of JuCo baseball in the state of Texas if you don't know much about it you generally think of just a few schools. San Jac, the cream of the crop of JuCo baseball across the country, Howard, the school out in west Texas that is literally in the middle of nowhere, Grayson, the school that some people think is in Oklahoma, McLennan, the school that i by Baylor right?, and Tyler the Dynasty that is in the middle of East Texas. Well if you didn’t know JuCo Baseball in the State of Texas is one of the top Competitive State in the country. Some might even say the best in the country. With 37 School spanning 2 Different NJCAA Divison and 2 Independent schools this state is tough from top to bottom.

Texas Player of the Year-

Sophomore Mark Castelblaco Outfield Clarendon-

Deep in the Pan Handle of Texas, there is the Town of Clarendon. With a population of just over 2000 if you were driving through it you would probably miss it. But thanks to the Sophomore from Chiriqui, Panama there is another reason to know where Clarendon, Texas is. Mark was ranked in the top 10 in the nation in 6 different offensive categories this season. He was 1st in Slugging % (1.017), 2nd in RBI’s (93) and Total Bases (177), 3rd in Home Runs (25), 7th in On Base % (.550), and 10th in Batting Average (.454). He helped the Bulldogs to a 34-20 record which is the best in the past 5 years. They just missed the postseason this year.

Texas Pitcher of the Year-

Sophomore Alex Palmer Cisco-

Cisco, a town that is located about halfway between Dallas and Midland, despite having a good history of players and teams the past few years came into the season under the radar. That, however, did not stop them. They were ranked as high as #2 in the country and #1 in the state at times. Leading the way for them this season was Alex Palmer. Making 15 appearances (all starts) he posted a 12-1 record on the season with 3 complete games and 2 shutouts. he also had a 3.07 ERA with 111 K’s with took him to a 12.18 K/9. Cisco ended their season on a very controversial call in the region 5 finals.
